Join us for a Game Jam - and help some Needy Cats!

The first question we generally get asked when we tell people the name of our company is “oh, have you got a needy cat, then?” The answer is a resounding yes - and it’s not just the one!

Our cats Helo and Hera are needy enough (Helo especially - he’s the one in the picture at the top of our website), but we also happen to live in an area with an alarmingly high number of strays. We don’t feed or encourage them at all, but over the past couple of years we’ve had to take two strays to the vet after they’ve caught something unpleasant or got into a nasty scrap.

The last one we took has ended up at Feline and Wildlife Rescue Nottingham, a local not-for-profit organisation run by two registered veterinary nurses. He was in a bad way, but they’ve looked after him wonderfully and are now hoping to find him a home.

Onyx, as he’s now known, is just one of the many, many animals Fee and Emma are looking after at the minute, and we know they’re not having an easy time funding the operation. We’d love to be able to just make a big donation ourselves, but sadly we’re not in a position to do that. Instead, we thought we’d set up an event to raise some money!

We’ve been tinkering with the idea for a little while, but we’ve finally had the chance to actually get it set up. So we’re proud to announce our very first Game Jam!

If you’ve never taken part in a Game Jam before, the idea is simple. A load of people get together at the same time and/or place (ours will be remote, for obvious reasons) to design games. The focus is on getting creative quickly, and finishing your game is more important than making something pretty or balanced!

You can read full details of our game jam - how it works, what the prize is (yes, we’re picking a winner!) and how we’re making our donation - over on the ticket page. In short, the ticket is £10; for each one sold, £2.50 goes into a prize pot and £7.50 goes straight to FAWR. We’ll pass the money on to them as soon as tickets start selling, and we’ll round the total donation up to the nearest £50 once the event is over.

If you’d like to give them a bit more help, you can either get the Cat Lover Special (the same ticket, but with an extra £30 donation thrown in), or you can donate directly to FAWR on PayPal (FAWRescue@hotmail.com) or buy them some essentials from their Amazon wishlist. You can read more about them on their Facebook page.

We look forward to seeing your entries. Please spread the word!
