On Wednesday we celebrated our second birthday by hanging out at at The Dice Cup (a fantastic gaming cafe in Nottingham) and playing games all day. We’ve been pretty busy this year and we thought we deserved a day off of work (luckily the boss was OK with it…) and a bit of a party! We were really excited at the start, and that’s before we started downing coffee and eating cake…
We decided not to put any solid plans in place, hoping that people would be dropping in and out throughout the day. Of course, one of the big benefits of holding the event at the Dice Cup was their well-stocked library, meaning we could have just sat and played two player games all day if no one else showed up. We needn’t have worried though, as we ended up having an amazing day with a load of great people popping in to wish us happy birthday and join us for a board game or two.
We played (among other things): Battle Sheep, King of Tokyo, Tsuro, Scythe, Photosynthesis, Quacks of Quedlinburg, Clank and Camel Up, as well as our latest prototype - a two-player robot fighting game that plays something like a cross between Robot Wars and a tag team wrestling match.
But the best part of the day was seeing lots lovely people and getting a ton happy birthday wishes over social media. It’s so rewarding to know that we have connected with so many people across Nottingham and the wider tabletop gaming community across the world. Thank you for your support. You rock!
Oh, speaking of birthday celebrations, we’re still running our competition to win a signed copy of Hellboy: The Board Game. To enter, all you have to do is sign up to our newsletter before the end of the month to be in with a chance to win! Best of luck, and here’s to many more years!
